The Bradfordville area encompasses much of the northern part of Tallahassee, stretching from just north of I10 north toward the Florida/Georgia border, and includes neighborhoods adjacent to Thomasville and Centerville Roads. Bradfordville is currently experiencing a burst of growth and activity as new housing, retail shops, restaurants, and infrastructure are all being developed.
Opportunities for outdoor recreation are abundant and varied. Several golf and tennis clubs are just a few minutes away. Residents have access to two private clubs in the area: Golden Eagle Country Club, which offers an 18-hole golf course, tennis, swimming, and dining; and the Golf Club at Summerbrook which includes an 18-hole golf course and a resort-style pool. Affordable annual memberships for golf and swimming are available with no initiation fee.
A Tallahassee landmark is found in the southern part of the Bradfordville community. Maclay Gardens State Park, located just north of I10 off of Thomasville Rd, was once the winter home of Alfred and Louise Maclay and is now a beautiful ornamental garden open to the public. Hundreds of azaleas, camellias, and other flowering plants are awash with color during peak blooming season from January through April. Also on site are Lake Hall (perfect for paddling, swimming, and fishing), nature trails, and the historic Maclay family home, which is open daily for viewing.
Other opportunities for water sports are available at several lakes in the area. Lake Iamonia in the northern part of the community, is a 5,757 acre prairie lake that is known as one of the cleanest lakes in Leon County. Lake Jackson, one of the largest lakes in Tallahassee, is a short drive away and provides access to a public landing for launching boats and kayaks. Numerous smaller neighborhood lakes are also easily accessible and well known locations for boating, fishing, and kayaking.
If you want a break from the kitchen, why not visit one of the dozens of restaurants in the area, which range from casual spots perfect for grabbing a pizza or sandwich after the game to fine dining restaurants ideal for celebrating special occasions. Many are locally owned and the available choices will satisfy any food craving and budget.
Bradfordville also offers several neighborhood plazas that make browsing for clothing, home furnishings, or gifts easy and enjoyable. Many grocery stores and department stores are also conveniently located in the area.
Several of Tallahassee’s highly rated schools are located in the Bradfordville community. Elementary and middle schools all feed into Chiles High School, which is known not only for its high academic achievement, but also for its arts and sports programs.
Homes in Bradfordville are as varied as the neighborhoods in which they are located. Available homes range from condos and townhomes, with prices starting in the $120,000s, to single family homes in established neighborhoods (with most homes in the mid-$200,000 to mid-$600,000 price range) to new construction starting in the low $400,000s.
The Bradfordville community is a thriving hub of activity that celebrates everything that Tallahassee has to offer. A few hours spent exploring the area may convince you that this is the ideal location of your future home.
